Ah yes YMI...Looking back,i'm glad that i made the decision to be apart of this years YMI...Although at first right, didn't really wanted to go,or was more or less sceptical about it...But i'm glad that i was apart of this years YMI batch...For 3 years i've seen 3 different teams coming and going and this year, finally is my turn to be apart of it.
Well, first started with having a week of training in Kluang and more or less getting to know the other people joining this year...Haha,and you know what? This year there were 8 people,2 of them were guys, and both this two are NOT from Kluang...That is both me and Joshua...Yup,kinda funny...But it was Awesome getting to know each one of them and their truly a Great Bunch of People...
I was teamed up with Joshua and we were sent to Harvest Center,KL...Its basically a school for children of refugees and underprivileged children...You see, because they are refugees, they can't study in normal Government schools...To add on,private schools are known to be expensive...Hence,HC provides these kids with education from primary 1 up to form5...
Even though,i didn't get the chance to teach the children, but it was still a good experience for me...Did tons of stuffs like carrying stuffs, painting, renovation, assembling furnitures, and so on and so forth...Once working from morning till 9pm!
I guess this experience really allowed me to get out of my comfort zone...Been away from home for almost A Month...Learn many new things,or more or less done many things i usually never do...An eye opener i would say...
Even with YMI ending already, and now life going back to its norm,i would say i'm missing the experience bah...Also enjoyed the experience in getting to know new people, and old friends even more...Guess that its a memory to stay...
